Build Your Own Bird’s Nest at Planned Parenthood

Birds make their nest/home only when they are ready to start a family. As part of the Open Circles project, you are invited to attend a series of Bird’s Nest Building Workshops at Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette. To raise awareness around Planned Parenthood, we will be using wire coat hangers as raw materials for the foundation of the nest, and decorating it with unique materials that reflect your thoughts about home and family. Both the difficult issues and the joy of nurturing a family are equal parts of the reality we will be exploring.

Artists Anne Greenwood, Sam Nagmay, and Horatio Law will be assisting you to create and customize your own fabulous nest/home. And your creation will be an integral part of the Open Circles installation at Place Gallery in November at Pioneer Place Mall.

Listed below are dates and time of workshops for this week (look for more workshops throughout October on this blog’s Calendar of Events):

Monday, 9/17, 5-7pm

Wednesday, 9/19, 5-7pm

Thursday, 9/20, 11:30-1:30pm

Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette, 3727 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Portland, OR 97212

You can extend the invitation to anyone you think would be interested—friends, family, colleagues—to join in PPCW’s Open Circles Project. To attend workshop, please contact Lamar Tillman, PPCW’s Community Outreach Coordinator at CommunityEvents@ppcw.org or call 503-410-1520 to grab a spot. This is a community event, and if you can, please bring wire hangers if you have them!
