Welcome to the Open Circles Project!

Open Circles engages three seemingly very different social (service) organizations—Sisters of the Road, Planned Parenthood, and the Place Gallery at Pioneer Place Mall—to explore with their communities (of staff, volunteer, clients) the notions of “social currency” and the “real worth” of their services. The project will also take a deep look at the concerns championed by these organizations—hunger and homelessness, women’s reproductive rights, and consumerism—and their shifting socio-political relations to contemporary society.

The encounters, combined with community art workshops, will result in three different collaborative installations, to be presented first separately on the premises of the organizations, and then together at the Place Gallery’s exhibition space in Pioneer Place Mall in Fall 2012.

Join us—for workshops, for progress reports, for presentations, for collaborations, for engagements, for it all!
